Grammar Snufus by Karla Stover

Okay, here's the deal. When did people become "that" instead of "who?" I hear this on the radio on the TV ( and shouldn't news reporters know better )? and unless my memory is wrong, have even read it in places. Why? How hard is it to remember that people require a "who"? And here's another--myself instead of me. My boss did this all this time and it drove me crazy. Are we so afraid to  be in the spotlight that we have to say, "So-and-so and myself did such-and-so?"

The NaNoWriMo Experience by Eileen O'Finlan

It sounded interesting, but I had yet to give it a try. The goal is to write 50,000 words in thirty days starting on November 1st. I've been working on Erin's Children , the sequel to Kelegeen for some time. Once I had enough research under my belt to begin writing, I realized that between a full-time job, caring for my mom who turned 93 in October, and various other obligations, I was having trouble finding time to write. So as November was approaching, I remembered that November is National Novel Writing Month and jumped on the Na...

Wanderings - Janet Lane Walters #BWLAuthor , #MFRWAuthor #Writing #Reviews

Learning new things can be a real hard and interesting challenge. Lately I’ve been trying to master Book Bub. I’m not sure I have but lately I’ve received a number of new followers. I invested a little bit of money and have new followers every day. I’m going ot do the same for December, I think. I keep trying to recommend books but haven’t done well at that. The problem is time. I have several posts saved to do different things there. I’m not sure what will come of this. I would rather be writing. I even have a tee shirt that says that and I wear it frequently, especially when something takes me away from my chair and clipboard. As it’s almost Thanksgiving, I will say I’m thankful for having a great publisher and a lot of co-writers whose books I enjoy. There’s also the aide who comes in five morings a week to get my invalid husband ready for be. There’smy granddaughter who helps around the house, my six other grandchildren who I don’t see as often as I would like. My children are part...

My Best Job Ever by Victoria Chatham

AVAILABLE HERE Apart from a love of writing, many authors have come from a background of teaching, and specifically teaching English, or working in some capacity with publishing or books. So, it is no wonder that from August 1972 until August 1985, I worked for Alan and Joan Tucker, owners of The Bookshop, in Station Road, Stroud, Gloucestershire, England. During those years I have no idea of the number of books I handled. I sometimes unpacked stock for  the children’s shop, the adult shop and, very exciting as you never knew what treasures you might find, the second-hand shop. These dedicated shops were all managed from the hub of operations, the old Station Master’s House. Here, in a room with large windows and bare board floor, surrounded by bookshelves (what else) and that dry-as-dust smell peculiar to old books, I unpacked, re-invoiced, and repacked school textbooks for over two hundred school accounts.      I was fortunate enough to get ...
